Wordless Wednesday: Farm House

When I was born, my parents were living in this old farm house. It had been in the family for many years and burned down in an electrical fire when I was still an infant (none of us were home). I have no memories of this house, but the stories that are told about it make me wish I did.

  1. Very nice photo with good lighting & composition, and somebody was smart to take it. Too bad about the fire, it must have been hard on your family.

  2. Beautiful house! Sad about the fire but luckily you have the photo to attach to the family stories.

  3. Who owns the land now, has it been sold or is it still in the family. Has the land been redeveloped?

  4. That is a lovely house, one that I would love to live in. I am sorry your family lost it's longtime home.

  5. What a beautiful house! How sad that it was destroyed. It is fortunate that your family has been able to share stories about it.

  6. Thank you all for your comments! I will have to search around for pictures I can post showing the inside of the house (the only ones I know of show my living relatives and I try not to post those). I will have to gather stories and do a "this old house" post.

There is a new house where this one used to be. The farm has changed a lot in the 20 years or so that I can recall memories.

  7. Very neat house! I love the architecture. You don't see that type of architecture where I live. I would love to live in a house like that.

  8. I too love the architecture style. I often wonder what my parents could have done to spruce it up. They did such a wonderful job on the house they bought a few years later...
